Alfred natupad ang wish na makapag-shooting sa New York

MATINDI ang pelikulang Tagpuan dahil nagsanib ng puwersa ang mahusay na direktor na si MacArthur Alejandre at ang batikang manunulat na si Ricky Lee upang buuin ang naturang pelikula na entry sa Metro Manila Film Festival.

Ilan sa mga hindi malilimutang obra ni direk Mac ang Amaya, Marimar Endless Love, Totoy Bato, Joaquin Bordado, Majika, Click, at Darna sa telebisyon, at sa pelikula naman ay ang mga box-office hits na tulad ng Ang Panday, Ang Panday 2, Captain Barbell, Lastikman, In Your Eyes, One True Love, I Will Always Love, Let The Love Begin, among others.

Ayon kay direk Mac…

“I wanted a story about adults who have fallen in and out of love, or fighting for love after the romance has gone. Then Ricky Lee submitted a screenplay that is questioning and reflective. As it gives answers to questions, it opens up new dimensions to more questions. From the first draft, I knew Tagpuan is a remarkable material.”

Bumilib naman si direk Mac kay Shaina Magdayao bilang artista at real trouper dahil may eksena ito sa Tagpuan na habang nag-uusap sila ni Alfred Vargas ay kumakain sila sa isang Chinese restaurant sa Hong Kong.

Very smooth na nakunan ang naturang eksena na roasted goose ang kinakain nina Shaina at Alfred.

Kinabukasan na lamang nalaman ni direk Mac na kung ilang taon na palang hindi kumakain ng karne si Shaina, pero wala itong karekla-reklamo sa naturang eksena.

Leading ladies ng Tagpuan sina Shaina at Iza Calzado at tumatayo namang producer (thru his Alternative Vision Cinemas) at lead actor ng pelikula si Alfred na isa ring Congressman sa 5th District ng Quezon City.

Nasa bucket list pala ni Alfred bilang producer ang makapag-shoot sa New York na isa sa magagandang lokasyon ng Tagpuan.

“Mahirap siya, logistically speaking, pero ako, masaya kasi dream come true sa akin ang makapag-shoot sa New York and nagkatotoo naman.

“Hindi kami nag-shoot in the usual tourist spots, so hindi tayo makakakita rito ng Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty.

“Nag-shoot kami sa streets of Manhattan, sa Brooklyn, at saka sa New York Chinatown. It’s very, very interesting, ang sarap, ang sarap mag-shoot dun.

“Ang sarap din mag-shoot sa Hong Kong.”

May mga eksena rin ang Tagpuan na kinunan sa Hong Kong.

“Ang challenge lang kasi when we shot in Hong Kong, ‘yun ‘yung mga nasa kalagitnaan ng protest [pero] kasi organized naman doon sa Hong Kong and natapos namin ang shoot without any problems.”

All-praises si Alfred sa direktor nila…

Unang kasali sana sa Metro Manila Summer Film Festival 2020 pero hindi ito natuloy dahil sa pandemya, pero ngayong December 25, sa wakas ay mapapanood na ang Tagpuan bilang isa nga sa mga MMFF film entries na mapapanood sa buong mundo online.
