2022 UAAP Badminton tournament hahataw na!

Makalipas ang tatlong taon, magbabalik ang University Athletic Association of the Philippines’ Collegiate Badminton Tournament Sabado, October 29 sa Centro Atletico Badminton Center sa Cubao, Quezon City.

“We are so glad na babalik na yung UAAP. But with the ongoing situation, we still need to follow the protocols. The Smart Intercollegiate Tournament last month was our test event and we will be following the same health and safety protocols from that tournament,” sambit ni UAAP Season 85 Badminton deputy tournament director Judith Brosula, na siya ring Technical Committee Chairman of the Philippine Badminton Association.

“We are also happy for the players na first time ulit sila magkikitakita sa collegiate setting. Sana mag-tuloy tuloy na.”

Anim na unibersidad ang maglalaban ngayong season sa dalawang divisions, ito’y ang host National University, University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas, at Adamson University.

Sa anim na koponang maglalaban ngayong season, ang Final Four format ay hindi ipapatupad para sa event.

Sa halip, ang top two teams matapos ang single round robin ay uusad sa winner-take-all Final na nakatakda sa November 13. Ang bronze medalist ay ang third-ranked team matapos ang elimination round.

Ang tanging mayoryang pagbabago sa rule mula Season 82, ang coaches ay hindi na papayagang i-coach ang kanilang mga player sa oras ng rally. Ang paglabag ay magreresulta na magsimula uli at babala sa team. (Louis Pangilinan)
