Maganda ang Loyalista ni Imelda Papin!

HONESTLY, I was not expecting much when I went to see the film Loyaista by jukebox queen Imelda Papin.

For one, the director was not that famous and I really didn’t know him.

Oo nga’t it starred Claudine Barretto but most of the stars are not known save for Gary Estrada, ER Ejercito and Alice Dixon.

So I went to see the movie with Peter Ledesma without any expectation.

As the title suggests, it’s a movie about Imelda Papin’s dedication and devotion with the former President Ferdinand Marcos and his beautiful wife Imelda.

Sa first part ng pelikula, Imelda’s daughter Maffi was given prominence. And in fairness to her, she made me cry with her moving performance as herself and Gary Estrada delineating the role of her dad Bong Carreon.

Siguro kaya moving ang performance ni Maffi ay dahil sa true to life ang kanyang ginagampanang papel.

Habang nagda-dialog si Gary Estrada, ramdam mo na naaalala niya ang kanyang dad na si Bong Carreon who died of cancer, kaya bigay todo ang kanyang performance.

Sunod na kinabiliban ko ay ang portrayal ni ER Ejercito bilang President Ferdinand Marcos. Lahat ng nuance ng late president ay kuhang-kuha niya at kinabog pa niya si Cesar Montano na gumanap ng role ni Ferdinand Marcos sa filmbio nito na kumita ng limpak-limpak na salapi.

Isa pang hinangaan ko ay ang very moving acting ni Alice Dixson bilang Imelda Marcos.

Di hamak na kamukha niya si Imelda at pati ang pag-arte nito ay kanyang nakuha as compared to that of Ruffa Gutierrez na parang caricature ang pag-arte.

Bongga rin ang registration ng kanyang pag-arte sa death scene ni Pres. Ferdinand Marcos. Swabeng-swabe ang kanyang pagdadalamhati at madadala kang tunay sa kanyang pag-iyak na tahimik lang ang dating pero tumatagos talaga sa kaibuturan ng iyong puso.

Indeed, she has gone a long, long way as compared to the Alice Dixson of yesteryears who was ham through and through.

Oo nga’t binigyan din ng highlight si Claudine after Alice Dixson’s moving portrayal but sad to say, I’m sorry to say this, but she was not as effective as Alice in her simple and yet very moving breakdown scene.

Suffice to say, hindi nabigo si Imelda Papin sa kanyang attempt na isalarawan ang buhay ng namayapag Pres. Ferdinand Marcos at ang unang ginang na si Imelda Marcos.

Naipakita rin niya ang kanyang dedication sa nasirang pangulo sa pamamagitan ng pagganap ni Claudine Barretto.

Buong ningning ding naipakita ang mga dinanas na pang-aapi ng mga loyalista sa kamay ng ilang tao na hindi naman masasabing mga alagad sila ni Pres. Cory Aquino.

In its totality, maganda talaga ang Loyalista at may karapatan si Imelda Papin na magmalaki sa kanyang nagawa.

Congratulations, Mel. So very happy for the kind of movie that you came out with that’s reeking with quality and love.

Lala Dy, so sweet and loving!

I feel so fortunate to be having a kababayan who is working as head nurse in one of the hospitals in America.

She was able to study BSN at the University of Sto. Tomas in Legaspi city but took up her Masters of Science of Nursing (MSN) at Samuel Merritt University.

Right now, she is living in Fremont California but she is a native of Legaspi, Albay.

I’m so happy that in spite of her very busy and hectic working sched, she still finds time to watch my vlog.

Pangpaalis daw ng stress kaya minsan, kapag nagtatrabaho siya, pini-play lang nya sa background ang aking vlog.

Come to think of it, matagal na rin siyang nanonood sa aking vlog but she still is watching up to now.
