HINDI bababa sa 46 Muslim persons deprived of liberty ang pinalaya ng Bureau of Corrections mula noong March 10 simula ng Ramadan.
Ibinigay ni Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang ang statistics nang bisitahin siya noong Huwebes ng hapon ni Presidential Adviser on Muslim Affairs, Almarin Centi Tilla at nagtanong tungkol sa kalagayan ng mga Muslim PDL sa iba’t ibang operating prisons at penal farms ng bureau.
Sinabi ni Catapang na batay sa kanilang datos, may humigit-kumulang 3,014 na Muslim PDL sa iba’t ibang OPPF noong Pebrero 29, 2024, na 5.69 porsyento mula sa 52,950 kabuuang bilang ng mga PDL sa ilalim ng pagbabantay ng Bucor.
Sa nasabing 3,014 Muslim PDLs 1,121 ay nakakulong sa New Bilibid Prison, 752 -Davao Prison and Penal Farm, 698 -San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm, 202 – Correctional Institution for Women, 144 – Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, 81 – Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm at 16 – Leyte Regional Prison.
“Like any other PDLs, Muslims are allowed to practice their faith even inside the correction facilities. Our Muslim brothers are not left behind. In fact, 46 of them have already been released since the start of Ramadan, while another 23 have been recommended by the Board of Pardons and Parole for Executive Clemency as of April 3.” Ani Catapang

* 20 expiration of sentence
* 12 acquitted
* 5 RA 10592/ Turn over
* 5 Probation
* 4 Granted Parol
