Paris Paralympians tatanggap ng heroes’ welcome kay PBBM

ANG anim na atleta na sumabak sa katatapos lang na Paris Paralympics ay tatanggap ng heroes’ welcome mula sa Pangulo Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Archer Agustina Bantiloc, taekwondo jin Allain Ganapin, wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan, javelin thrower Cendy Asusano, at swimmers Angel Otom at Ernie Gawilan ay nakatakdang dumating Martes.

Magsasagawa sila ng courtesy call sa Malacañang Palace sa Manila sa Huwebes alas 2:30 ng hapon.

“Our President is very supportive who acknowledges and recognizes the efforts of our athletes,’’Wika ni Philippine Paralympic Committee president Michael Barredo sa news release mula sa Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Lunes.

Pinarangalan rin ni President Marcos ang atleta na lumahok sa Olympics nakaraang buwan.

Sinuportahan ng PSC ang training at paglahok ng anim na Paralympians.

Asusano nagtapos fourth sa F54 event kung saan siya nagrehistro ng personal best na 15.05 meters. Nakapasok si Otom sa finals ng kanyang dalawang events— lumapag sa fifth place sa women’s 50-meter butterfly S5 event may personal-best na 45.78 seconds, at sixth sa 50m backstroke S5 with a time of 44s – habang si Gawilan ranked sixth sa 400m freestyle S7 finals; Mangliwan made the 400-meter T52 finals; Bantiloc nabigo sa opening knockout round ng women’s individual compound event; at Ganapin bigo sa lost men’s K44 -80kg round of 16.

Sa opening ceremony, kinilala ang Pilipinas na bansang pinakamalaki magbigay ng monetary incentives at medal-winning para athletes.

“We are working with Congress to increase the cash incentives of our medal-winning para athletes similar to the incentives that our athletes in the Olympics normally receive,’’ Wika ni PSC chair Richard Bachmann.

“We are also helping institutionalize the Para PNG (Philippine National Games), so we can have a younger pool of athletes that we can actually select in the future,’’anya.
