Tagumpay ng mga Pinoy ang pagsasabatas ng RA No. 12064, at RA No.12605 ni Sen. ‘Tol’

ISANG tagumpay na maituturing ang tuluyang pagsasabatas ng Republic Act (RA) No. 12064 o Philippine Maritime Zones Act kung saan pinagtitibay nito ang soberanya ng Pilipinas sa pagtatakda ng mga karapatan sa maritime zones nito, tulad ng internal waters, archipelagic waters, territorial sea, exclusive economic zones (EEZ), at continental shelf, alinsunod sa United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), at mga umiiral na batas at kasunduan nito.
“We now be able to better monitor the movement of foreign vessels and aircraft and ask them to leave should they pose a threat to our peace and order, and national security.” Ito ang paliwanag ni Senate Majority Leader at chairman ng Senate Special Committee on Philippine Maritime and Admiralty Zones na si Francis ‘Tol’ Tolentino sa ginanap na ‘Kapihan sa Manila Bay’ sa Cafe Adriatico noong Miyerkules ng umaga kung saan si Ms. Marichu Villanueva ng Philippine Star ang regular host
Magkakaroon naman ng bisa sa RA No. 12605, o Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act, ang Philippine Maritime Zones Act, na magtatakda sa mga ruta at lugar na magagamit ng mga dayuhang sasakyang pang-militar at rehistradong sasakyang panghimpapawid, alinsunod sa UNCLOS at Chicago Convention.
“With the passage of the law, the Philippines can now prohibit certain vessels to play the route when certain conditions apply,” ayon sa senador.
Sa pagiging batas ng dalawang panukala ng senador mapapalakas nito ang integridad at karapatan ng Pilipinas sa maritime territories at sa pambansang seguridad nito.
“Both are a long-awaited first step in laying this foundation in order to more effectively pursue our national security interest, strategy and policy in our sea area,” ayon pa kay Senator ‘Tol’.
“We are not only unyielding in protecting our patrimony, our rights, and our dignity as a proud and as a free country. We are also firm in our commitment to regional and global peace,” dagdag pa ng senador.
Napag-alaman din sa senador na papayagan naman sa nasabing batas ang anumang scientific research na gagawin ng anumang dayuhan bansa sa katubigan sakop ng dalawang nasabing batas kung ipagpapaalam ito ng pormal o may notification ang Pilipinas. (ANDI GARCIA)
