40% Discount sa seniors, PWDs, students sa subsidized routes, pinaalala ni Senior Citizens Partylist Rep. Ordanes

IPINAALALA ni Senior Citizens Partylist Rep. Rodolfo Ompong Ordanes sa mga kapwa senior citizens na itinaas na sa 40 porsiyento ang kanilang diskwento sa pagsakay ng mga public utility vehicles (PUVs) na sakop ng subsidized routes.
Ayon kay Rep. Ordanes, ang kasalukuyang 20 porsiyentong discount sa pamasahe ng senior ay dinagdagan pa ng karagdagang 20 porsiyento mula sa Department of Transportation (DOTr).
“I remind senior citizens that on subsidized routes, their PUV fare discount is raised to 40 percent. This consists of the regular 20 percent discount plus an additional 20 percent under the DOTr’s service contracting program. The additional 20 percent discount also applies to students and PWDs.” pahayag pa ni Rep. Ordanes.
Sakop nito ang 823 ruta ng mga jeepney, bus at EDSA Carousel na inaasahang magbigay ng malaking benepisyo sa mga seniors, PWDs at estudyante.
Binigyang-diin ni Rep. Ordanes na malaking tulong itong net service contracting sa mga driver at operator, kabilang ang mga senior citizen na namamasada.
Aniya, mahusay ang programang ito dahil isa itong targeted response measure. Masinop na paggamit ng pondong umaabot sa P800 million.
“I note and like the GPS technology component of this program. GPS devices will be attached to the participating vehicle units. The GPS will record the distance traveled by each vehicle,” saad pa ni Rep. Ordanes.
“This way only LTFRB-franchised units qualify for the program and real data is the basis for the subsidy received,” dagdag ng kongresista.
Pinapurihan din ni Rep. Ordanes ang DOTr sa ginawa at pagpapatupad ng design ng net service contracting program na malaking tulong sa transportasyon sa gitna ng krisis sa presyo ng langis.
