PH lifters nagbulsa ng 5 ginto sa World Youth and Junior Championships

ANG Pilipinas ay nagbulsa ng 5 gintong medlya nitong Huwebes sa International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Youth and Junior World Championships Lima, Peru.

Komulekta si Jay-R Colonia ng Zamboanga City ng 2 ginto sa (clean and jerk, at total) at silver (snatch) sa Youth men’s 49kg. category sa kanyang unang international kumpetisyon.

Alexsandra Ann Diaz, na taga Zamboanga City rin, dinomina ang Youth women’s 45kg snatch at total at third sa clean and jerk.



Cebuano Althea Bacaro nagdagdag ng isa pang gold medal para sa team philippines matapos mangibabaw sa snatch sa Youth women’s 40kg category. Nakuha niya ang silver medal sa total at bronze sa clean and jerk.

Zamboangueña Angeline Colonia nakupo ang silver (snatch) at ang bronze (total) medals sa Junior women’s 45kgs.Pang-apat siya sa clean and jerk.

Pang-apat si Prince Keil Delos Santos ng Angono, Rizal sa snatch at total at pang-anim sa clean and jerk sa Junior men’s 55kg category.

“I’m grateful and proud to bring home the silver medal. All I can say is, always train with purpose, listen to the coach and believe in yourself. Consistency and discipline are the keys to success,” Wika ni Bacaro, grade 8 student mula sa University of Cebu.

Pinuri ni National coach Christopher Bureros ang performance ni Bacaro.

Getting ready again for Los Angeles Olympics,” Wika ni Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas president Monico Puentevella.

Ang Youth division ay para sa atleta na may edad 13-17 habang ang Junior division ay para sa kumpetitors na may edad 15-20.
