Ito ang mga pangunahing industriya na may pinakamataas na percentage share at siyang nagbigay-daan upang ma-sustain ng Maynila ang status nitobilang ‘trillion-peso economy in 2025.’
Dahil diyan ay itinaya ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ang Gross Domestic Product (GDP) nito sa P1.06 trillion, kaya’t naging ikatlo ang Maynila sa mga lungsod sa bansa, na pinangunahan ng Quezon City at Makati City.
Ang data na inilabas ng PSA nitong October 6, 2026, ay ipinakalat sa 2025 Provincial Product Accounts Data Dissemination and Opening Ceremony ng National Statistics Month sa National Capital Region, kung saan nakumpirma ang Maynila na siyang nag-account ng may 14.6 percent ng kabuuang ekonomiya sa NCR.
“Manila is a services-based economy, with the services sector accounting for 77.4 percent of the city’s total GDP, while the industry sector contributes 22.6 percent. Among the fastest-growing industries in the city in 2025, transportation and storage led with a 10.0 percent growth rate, followed by human health and social work activities at 9.4 percent and education at 6.4 percent,” ayon pa sa data.
Ikinalugod naman ni Mayor Isko Moreno ang resulta na aniya ay “consistent with the sustained investments” ng kanyang administration pagdating sa healthcare at education, sa ilalim ng ‘Minimum Basic Needs’ platform nito.
Aniya, ang per capita GDP ng City of Manila ay nasa P565,047 noong 2025, kung saan ang Maynila ay napasama sa ‘Highly Urbanized Cities in NCR that posted a per capita GDP higher than the estimated regional value.’
Ang mga ‘top contributors’ sa economic growth in percentage points ng lungsod ay public administration and defense, kasama na ang compulsory social security na may 0.5 percentage points at sinundan ng transportation and storage sa 0.4 percentage points at human health and social work activities sa 0.24 percentage points.
Magugunitang pag-upo niya bilang alkalde noong 2025, ginawang prayoridad ni Moreno ang healthcare, education, housing at trabaho. (JERRY S. TAN)
