GMA NAGSALITA NA SA PAGSIPA SA KANYA; VP SARA KUMALAS SA LAKAS-CMD!

NAGSALITA na si dating president ngayo’y incumbent Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA) sa pagpatalsik sa kanya bilang Senior Deputy Speaker, sinabing napagsuspetsahan siyang nagpaplano ng kudeta sa Kamara.

Sa kanyang statement, pinasinungalingan niya ang alegasyon, sinabing wala na siyang balak na mahalal pang speaker ng House of Representatives.

“When I learned that there were reports that I was suspected of plotting a ‘coup’ against Speaker Romualdez, I decided I must speak out to clarify my political position. Indeed, some of my actions may have been misconstrued, such as my recent trip with a delegation of Congressmen to Korea for some official meetings,” paliwanag ni GMA.

“To be clear, my political objectives are three: First, to represent the 2nd district of Pampanga. Second, to support the legislative agenda of Speaker Romualdez and President Marcos. Third, to use whatever experience I have as a former President to help out when I am called upon to do so,” saad pa niya.

Pero inamin ni Arroyo na nang mahalal si Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos bilang presidente nung isang taon, hinangad niya ang speakership, ngunit naisip niyang ang kapalaran ay nasa kay Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.

“When President Marcos won, I wanted to aspire for the Speakership of the House. But it soon became apparent that he was most comfortable with then Congressman Martin Romualdez as Speaker. I quickly realized the wisdom embedded in that sentiment,” sabi ni GMA.

“In the Philippines, the House leadership has traditionally been closely associated with the sitting President, and this relationship of deep trust between speaker and President has been beneficial in smoothly enacting the legislative agenda of the President. I think this is acceptable, because in the Philippines, the check and balance needed in any democracy has traditionally been well-provided by the Senate,” dagdag niya.

Sa sesyon noong Miyerkules, inaprubahan ng House ang pagpapalit sa liderato, kungsaan si Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio Gonzales Jr. ay nahalal na senior deputy speaker, ipinalit kay GMA.

Sinabi naman ni GMA: “The move was the prerogative of the House of Representatives”.

Samantala, kasunod ng pagpatalsik kay GMA bilang senior deputy speaker, nagbitiw naman si Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio bilang chairperson ng ruling party Lakas-CMD nang walang paliwanag.

INANUNSYO nitong Biyernes ni Vice President at Education Secretary Sara Duterte ang kanyang pagkalas sa ruling party Lakas-CMD pero hindi niya sinabi ang rason sa pagtiwalag sa partidong politikal.

Pero binanggit niya na ang kanyang leadership “cannot be poisoned by political toxicity” o “undermined by political power play.”

“I am grateful to all the party members for the support that also once demonstrated that unity is possible to advance our shared dreams for our fellow Filipinos and our beloved country,” nakasaad sa kanyang statement.

“I am here today because of the trust of the Filipino people in me to lead and serve them and the country, and this cannot be poisoned by political toxicity or undermined by execrable political powerplay,” dagdag niya.

Siniguro ng Bise Presidente sa publiko ang kanyang pangako na magserbisyo sa bansa – kasama si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. bilang lider – “will be immutable.”

Nanawagan din siya sa mga lider ng partido na mag-“focus on the work that must be done and leave a legacy of a strong and stable homeland.”

Si VP Duterte ay sumama sa Lakas-CMD nang tumakbo siya para sa ikalawang pinakamataas na puwesto sa gobyerno noong 2022. Ang kanyang pagtiwalag sa partido ay kasunod ng pagpatalsik sa chairman emeritus na si dating President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo mula sa pagiging senior deputy speaker to deputy speaker.

Si Arroyo, ang sinasabing “secret weapon” ng Presidente, ay pinalitan ng kanyang kapwa Kapampangan na si 3rd District Rep. Aurelio Gonzales Jr.

Ang rason ng pagpatalsik, sabi ni House Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe, ay para bawasan ang bigat ng mga trabaho ni Arroyo.

Pero ayon kay GMA, kaya siya pinalitan ay dahil pinagdudahan siyang nagpaplano ng kudeta laban sa liderato ng Kamara. Wala aniya itong katotohanan. Wala na aniya siyang balak pa maging House Speaker.

Noong 2018, si Arroyo ay naging Speaker ng House of Representatives matapos ikudeta si Pantaleon Alvarez.
