Sa layuning higit pang patatagin ang dedikasyon sa ‘good governance and institutional reforms’ pumasok ang Bureau of Customs (BOC), sa ilalim ni Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, sa isang Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) kasama ang Philippine Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. (PCCBI).

“Aimed at promoting integrity, accountability, professionalism and modernization across the customs service, the said MOA serves as one of the key highlights of the PCCBI’s 34th National Convention, themed “PCCBI: Stronger Through Change, Empowering Resilient and Ethical Customs Brokers in a Shifting Global Trade Landscape.” The agreement was signed by Commissioner Nepomuceno and PCCBI National President Atty. Norberto V. Castillo, marking a strengthened partnership between the Bureau and the customs brokerage profession,” ani BOC spokesman Atty. Chris Noel Bendijo.

Sa kanyang inspirational address sa convention, binigyang-diin ni Nepomuceno na,”meaningful reforms require the collective participation of customs personnel and industry stakeholders, underscoring their shared responsibility in improving the customs service.”

“The reform agenda is not limited to BOC. At lalo na kayo, kasama namin kayo, you are most affected if BOC is inefficient, efficient, good or bad. So, we must join our efforts, we must do our best together to improve the Bureau of Customs,” dagdag pa ni Nepomuceno.

Samantala, sinabi ni Bendijo na binigyang-diin ni Nepomuceno ang ‘ongoing modernization efforts, particularly the development of the Customs Processing System (CPS), which aims to automate customs processes, including document submission, assessment, payment and release of goods, while recognizing the vital role of customs brokers in facilitating legitimate trade.’

“Through the agreement, the BOC and PCCBI reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing the IAM BOC Movement, fostering a culture of integrity and accountability, and building a more efficient, transparent and trustworthy customs administration through stronger public-private sector collaboration,” dagdag pa ni Bendijo.
