BEACH VOLLEYBALL BAGONG SPORT SA ‘AMIANAN’

TANYAG ang lalawigan ng Ilocos Norte sa malawak at mahalinang ‘world class sandy beaches o dalampasigan. Sa katunayan, ang Saud Beach sa Pagudpud ay napabilang na kamakailan sa ‘26 best beaches in the world’ ng TRAVEL & LEISURE. Dahil dito, si Congressman Angelo Marcos Barba na noon ay Vice-Governor ng Ilocos Norte ay inilunsad ang 1st AMB Beach Volleyball Tournament na tinaguriang ‘Palaro sa Dalampasigan sa Tag-Araw’ tatlong summer na ang nakaraan. Ito’y isang Inter-town competitions sa Ikalawang Distrito ng lalawigan sa Playa Tropical Beach, Bgy. Victoria, Currimao, Ilocos Norte. Ipinahayag ni Cong Barba kung bakit niya isinusulong ang naturang proyekto.

“Beach Volleyball is most well known in beaches of the United States especially in California but it is also popular in Brazil and Phuket , Thailand in Asia. Back in 2018 when I was the Vice Governor, I was, and still am convinced to this day that our beaches in Ilocos Norte are at par or even surpass the beauty of these beaches and they need to be seen by the world. What is great about beach Volleyball is that the sport magnetizes people to watch and it relies on the natural environment so the flora inherent to the area remains protected,”ani Cong.Barba

“Sports tourism is one of the fastest-growing sector in tourism as more and more tourists are inherited in sports activities. Sports tourism helps creates exposures and enhances a positive image for the local community and could translate to more jobs and economic growth in the coastal areas.”

Ang beach volleyball sa Ilocos Norte ay may basbas na rin ng Philippine National Volleyball Federation kung kaya kinikilala na rin ang mga kumpetisyon sa dalampasigan sa Amianan o balwarte ng mga Ilocano.

Ang pinakamahalaga ani Barba ay ang makilala sa buong mundo na sa Ilocos Norte o Amianan ay may bagong sports na popular na sa mga Ilocano-ang beach volleyball.The 2021 AMB Beach Volleyball almost did not happen because of Covid 19. After many consideration, the good Congressman decided to push through with it, being cognizant of the damaging effects of the pandemic on the mental health and physical well-being of the youth in Ilocos Norte. Hence, in April 13, 2021, AMB Beach Volleyball Clinic was conducted by PNVF-BVC to ensure the growth of local beach volleyball technical/officiating crews by learning the latest developments of the game. The AMB Beach Volleyball District 2 is scheduled on April 24-25 – Playa Tropical, Brgy. Victoria, Currimao, Ilocos Norte; while AMB Beach Volleyball Disteict 1 is on May 14-15 at Villa Del Mar, Brgy. Saud, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. Lastly, the Crossover Match will be on June 19, 2021 at the D’Coral, Currimao, Ilocos Norte.

As we are all managing anxiety and stress related to the growth of the COVID-19 pandemic and as it continues to threaten the health of ourselves, our families, and our communities, we should consider using physical activity and sport events – but still adhering to Covid protocol – as a strategy to maintainj our physical, mental and emotional health during this challenging times.
