Achelle Guion flag-bearer sa 11th ASEAN Para Games

LONDON paralympian at bemedaled powerlifter Achelle “ Jinky” Guion ang napiling maging flag-bearer ng bansa sa opening rites ng 11th ASEAN Para Games (APG) sa July 30 sa Surakarta,Indonesia.

“We are pleased to announce that Jinky has accepted our invitation to be our flag bearer at the head of the Philippine delegation during the opening of the 11th ASEAN Para Games,” Wika ni Philippine Paralympic Committee president Mike Barredo.

“Guion’s selection is in recognition for her past athletic accomplishments in giving honor to the country,” Dagdag pa ni Barredo patungkol sa power lifter na kinatawan ang bansa sa 2012 London Paralympic Games.

Ang katiting na powerlifter ay nagwagi rin ng silver medal sa parehong weight class sa 2014 Incheon at 2018 Jakarta Asian Para Games.

Ang atleta ay kasama sa 212-man Philippine delegation, kabilang ang 144 athletes, sa opening day parade ng 11-nation meet sa Manahan Stadium na inaasahang dadaluhan ni Indonesian President Joko Widodo, na pinanganak sa Java provincial capital.

Kumpiyansa ang pangkat na malagpasan ang 20 gold,20 silver, at 29 bronze medal na nahakot ng bansa at fifth place overall sa 11 kalahok na bansa sa nakaraang edition ng sportsfest na ginanap sa 2017 Kuala Lumpur.

Ang Philippine delegation ay nakatakdang lumipad sakay ng chartered flight patungong Surakarta sa July 26, apat na araw bago magsimula ang paligsahan.
