Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III on Saturday joined the Muslim community in celebrating Eid’l Fitr, urging Filipinos to uphold the values of sacrifice, compassion, and unity as the nation confronts mounting global and economic challenges.
“As our Muslim brothers and sisters celebrate Eid’l Fitr, we honor a journey of faith marked by discipline, sacrifice and generosity—values that can guide us as we face the challenges ahead, and work to overcome these as one nation,” the Speaker said.
Eid’l Fitr, or the “Feast of Breaking the Fast,” marks the end of Ramadan’s month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting and symbolizes spiritual renewal, gratitude and community.
Dy said the occasion highlights the importance of reflection, humility and solidarity, which remain essential in strengthening both communities and public institutions.
The Speaker from Isabela noted that Eid is observed through special prayers, charitable giving, and the renewal of family and community ties.
“These traditions remind us of our duty to care for others, especially the most vulnerable, and to build stronger, more compassionate communities,” he said.
“Sa diwa ng Eid, nawa’y patuloy nating isabuhay ang malasakit sa kapwa at pagkakaisa bilang isang bansa sa gitna ng mga hamon sa buong mundo.”
He stressed that these shared values are crucial as the Philippines addresses economic pressures, geopolitical tensions, and threats to food and energy security.
”Let this celebration inspire us to build a more inclusive, resilient, and united Philippines where every Filipino has hope and opportunity.” (RM)
