Ito ang inihayag ni Chinese Embassy spokesman Ji Lingpeng at aniya, bilang spokesperson ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), si Trinidad ay dapat umanong magsalita nang batay sa ‘facts, evidence and responsibility.’
“AFP reportedly filed a case with the NBI for investigation on the allegedly faked letter yesterday. How come the AFP spokesperson has possibly drawn some conclusion even before the NBI? ” ani Ji.
“By his logic, can we also claim that every smear and malicious accusation against China in the Philippines points to the AFP because it stands to benefit? The people are not to be fooled. This shabby tactic of throwing mud at others for one’s own political interests will not work,” dagdag pa ng spokesman.
Hinimok din ni Ji ang ilang indibidwal at puwersa na tigilan ang pag-uurot ng anti-China sentiment, “sowing hatred, and deliberately fueling division and confrontation, otherwise, they may ask for humiliations and troubles for their own.”
Ang reaksyon ni Ji ay nag-ugat sa September 29 statement ni Trinidad bilang AFP spokesman para sa West Philippine Sea.
Sinabi ni Trinidad sa interview na maaring ang China ay nasa likod ng circulation ng isang pekeng sulat na pirmano umano ni Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Jr.
Ang liham ay tinalakay sa isang violent confrontation ng China Coast Guard (CCG) at Philippine Navy (PN) personnel malapit sa Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal noong July 20.
Anang DND, ang liham ay ‘falsely attributed to Teodoro a statement claiming the mission had “achieved expected outcomes, exposing China’s violent law enforcement and bullying tactics.
The document also supposedly outlined the defense chief’s position on Philippine-US security ties, claiming that the United States remained the Philippines’ “top priority in national security strategy as the highest guiding principles” in the performance of his duties.”
Nakapaloob din umano sa liham ang commitment ni Teodoro “that regardless of any changes in the domestic political climate within the Philippines, my support for the PH-US alliance will remain steadfast.”
Ayon sa DND, ang liham ay ‘absolutely fake’ at ini-refer na umano nito ang isyu sa National Bureau of Investigation(NBI). (JERRY S. TAN)
