Quiapo Church idineklarang ‘national shrine’

ITINAAS ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) ang estado ng Quiapo Church mula sa Archdiocesan Shrine of the Black Nazarene sa National Shrine of the Black Nazarene.

Inaprubahan ito ng mga obispo sa 126th plenary assembly sa Kalibo, Aklan, dahilan upang maging ika-29 national shrine ng bansa, na tahanan din ng “traslacion” o paglilipat ng imahe mula sa Intramuros.

“For many years, the home of the centuries-old and revered image of the Black Nazarene has served as a prominent landmark for pilgrims from all corners of the country,” pahayag ng CBCP nitong Linggo.

Mayroong iba’t ibang uri ng shrine ang Catholic Church: diocesan shrines, aprubado ng local bishop; archdiocesan shrines, aprubado ng archbishops; national shrines, kinilala ng bishops’ conferences; at international shrines, inendorso ng Vatican.

Sinabi ng Catholic News Agency na kabilang sa international shrines ang makasaysayang lokasyon gaya ng Jerusalem at Rome; mga lokasyon ng aprubadong Marian apparitions, gaya ng Lourdes at Fatima; at mga lugar na may kaugnayan sa mga santo, katulad ng Assisi at Lisieux.

Itinalaga ang Quiapo Church bilang archdiocesan shrine noong May 10, at isang minor basilica mula 1987 dahil sa papel nito sa debosyon para kay Jesus at cultural impact nito sa Filipino religious practices.(Jocelyn Domenden)
