Wala ng panahon para sa impeachment ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ito ang pahayag ni Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation Secretary Larry Gadon nitong Martes matapos imungkahi ng Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) ang paghahain ng impeachment laban sa pangalawang pinaka-mataas na opisyal ng bansa.
“My unsolicited suggestion to Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, is to set aside plans for impeachment of VP Sara Duterte . While they may believe there are sufficient grounds for impeachment … WALA NA SAPAT NA PANAHON,” ang sabi ni Gadon.
Para sa Kalihim ang impeachment kay VP Sara ay dapat gawin na lang sa susunod na Kongreso.
“Ang impeachment kay VP Sara (sa ngayon) may sapat na dahilan pero kulang sa panahon,” ani ni Gadon.
“In a few days, election season na, in a few days filing of candidacy na, and in a few weeks mag-December na, recess na , and a few weeks after mag resume sa January mag recess uli for the campaign period, then mag adjourn na,” paliwanag pa ni Gadon.
Ang kanyang panawagan aniya, ay para na din sa Senado.
“The congressmen and half of the senate will be busy campaigning, so there is no time for impeachment proceedings to take its full motion,” sabi ni Gadon.
Sa kabilang banda, inihayag naman ng Bayan na nararapat ang iimpeach si Sara upang mapanagot ang Bise Presidente sa mga nasayang na pondo ng kanyang tanggapan.
Sinabi ni Bayan secretary general Mong Palatino, ang pagtanggi pa lamang ni Duterte na sagutin ang mga katanungan ng Kongreso sa kanyang paggamit ng confidential fund (CF) ay malakas na basehan na ng impeachment.
“Impeaching Sara Duterte is necessary to hold an erring official like her accountable for committing grave offenses that betrayed public trust. Her anomalous spending of confidential funds in 2022 and 2023, the irregularities in the distribution of funds during her term as education secretary, and her refusal to answer queries about these issues during the budget hearings are enough basis to remove her from office,” paliwanag ni Palatino.
