Dynamic Duo Bambol & Pato at ang Magnificent Seven

MATAPOS ang marubdob na deliberasyon sa proseso ng seleksyon, inanunsiyo na ng Philippine Olympic Committee at Philippine Sports Commission ang mga natatanging pangalan ng 7 markadong atletang Pinoy na makinang na itatanghal para sa Sports Hall of Fame.

Nasa pinal na talaan ng pinagpipitagang atletang nag-ambag ng karangalan sa bansa sa kani-kanilang panahon sina Eduardo Pacheco ng basketball at football,Isidro. Del Prado ng athletics, Ramon Fernandez ng basketball,

Beatriz Lucero Lhuilier ng gymnastics at taekwondo, Mansuyeto ” Onyok ” Velasco ng boxing, Cecil Mamiit ng tennis at Adeline Dumapong ng Para weightlifting.

Binubuo nila ang ikalimang hanay tungong Philippine Sports Hall of Fame magmula nang isabatas ito noong 2010 at tinanghal ang 10 atleta na nasundan ng 16 pa 17 noong 2016,10 noong 2018 at 2021 na ngayon ay nasa 54 na atleta na ang nagawaran.

Bawat inductee ay gagawaran ng eleganteng tropeo at taginting na P500 libo na insentibo.

“The Philippine Sports Hall of Fame is more than an honor roll of medals-it is a living ledger of greatness to honor those who have defined what it means to be a Filipino in sports”,wika ni Gregorio na pinamunuan ang selection committee kaagapay si POC chief Abraham ‘Bambol Tolentino.

Gaganapin ang enshrignment ceremony sa Mayo 20 na dadaluhan ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos.

“Those chosen represent the very best of Philippine sports through the years 1924 to 2014 after previous inductees like Teofilo Yldefonso, Caloy Loyzaga,Miguel White, Mona Sulaiman, Felicisimo Ampon,Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, Rober Jaworski, Paeng Nepomuceno, Bong Coo, Lydia de Vega Mercado at Elma Muros-Posadas.

Bukod kina Bambol at Pato,ang miyembro pa ng screening/ selwction committee ay sina GAB chairman Atty. Francisco Rivera, NSA representatives Jarryd Belo at Jose Malonzo,Ayala Foundation representative Xavier Virata at MVP Sports Foundation president Al Panlilio.
