MAGHAHAIN ng panukala si Senador Raffy Tulfo na magpapahintulot sa kababaihang estudyante na magsuot ng pantalon sa mga paaralan.
Ito ay ang Senate Bill No. 1986 o ang ‘Pants for Her Act’ na kanyang inihain.
“The convenience of wearing pants or trousers should be available for all. Women should not be restricted to wearing skirts as their choice of uniform in schools, colleges, or uni-versities,” mababasa mula sa naturang panukala.
“In today’s social climate, it is imperative that young women are given another alternative to the traditional skirted uniform in order for them to feel comfortable and promote a gender-neutral environment,” dagdag pa nito.
Pinapahintulutan din umano nito na maging malaya ang kababaihan sa anomang diskriminasyon at harassment.
“(The bill) allows them to move and express themselves freely and authentically without fear of discrimination or harassment,” anang senador.
Bukod pa sa “gender concerns,” tinukoy din ng senador na para ito ay maiwasan ang dengue at iba pang sakit na may kinalaman sa pagkagat ng mga lamok.
“The right of young women to wear trousers to school needs to be a given,” he said, “and not a privilege that needs to be argued for in each indivi-dual case,” pagpapatuloy pa niya.
