KUMALAS si Scott Cooper sa Philippine Azkals matapos ang apat na taon na serbisyo
Inanunsyo ng Philippine Football Federation (PFF) kahapon Linggo na si Cooper ay bumaba sa puwesto bilang men’s national football team head coach.
Sinabi ng federation na ianunsyo ang bagong Azkals coach sa susunod na araw para sa AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers mula June 8 to 14 sa Mongolia.
“We thank coach Scott for sharing his knowledge, time, effort and making great sacrifices to our men’s national team program,” Wika ni PFF national teams’ committee chairman Dan Palami.
“We had our share of challenges handling the team and competing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his time in charge, we were able to secure commitment from players who we believe can help us in achieving our goals. We wish coach Scott all the best in his future endeavors.”
Unang itinalaga si Cooper bilang team’s senior football adviser noong 2008. Umupo siya bilang head coach matapos ang 2019 AFC Asian Cup, kapalit ni Sven-Goran Ericksson.
Ang English coach ay pinamunuan ang Azkals sa third place finish na may 11 points,3-2-3 win-draw-loss record, sa Group A ng 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers second round sa nakalipas na 3 taon.
Ang 51-year-old ay lumagda ng contract extension noong 2020 bago bumaba sa puwesto ngayon taon.
