BOC-NAIA NAG-TURNOVER NG P36- M HALAGA NG FORFEITED AGARWOOD SHIPMENTS

NAG-TURNOVER ang Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC–NAIA) ng forfeited agarwood shipments na nagkakahalaga ng higit P36 million sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) nitong January 28, 2026.

Umabot sa 18 shipments ng forfeited agarwood ang nai-turn over sa DENR na may timbang na 49.15 kilograms at halagang aabot sa P36,862,500.00.

Ani BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, importante ang kooperasyon ng government agencies: “The protection of our natural resources requires strong coordination and shared responsibility. This reflects the Bureau’s active role in supporting environmental protection efforts.”

Idinagdag pa nito na ang forfeiture at aliinsunod sa direktiba ni President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.na palakasin ang environmental protection at tapusin ang mga illegal trade of wildlife and forest products, na ipinagbabawal sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act), Presidential Decree No. 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines) at Republic Act No. 9147 (Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act).

Ayon naman kay BOC-NAIA District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa, “BOC-NAIA remains steadfast in enforcing customs laws and working closely with partner agencies to prevent the illegal entry and distribution of prohibited forest products.”

Dagdag pa ni Mapa: “The BOC continues to strengthen border enforcement and inter-agency partnerships in support of the administration’s environmental protection and national conservation initiatives.” (JERRY S. TAN)
