TAIWANESE SA MARIKINA HIT-AND-RUN INCIDENT, ARESTADO DAHIL ‘OVERSTAYING’

INANUNSIYO ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang pagkakadakip sa isang Taiwanese national na iligal na nananatili sa bans matapos masangkot sa isang hit-and-run incident sa Marikina City.

Ang suspect ay kinilalang si Su Ping-Yen, 34, na dinala sa BI custody noong July 29 matapos ang koordinasyon kasama ang Marikina City Police Station at Eastern Police District.

Ayon sa BI intelligence division na pinamumunuan ni Fortunato Manahan, Jr., si Su ay sangkot sa isang traffic incident na naganap sa Lilac corner Panorama Streets sa Barangay Concepcion Dos, Marikina City, kung saan nabundol umano niya ang isang 62-anyos na Filipino habang tumatawid ito sa isang designated pedestrian lane. Nagkaroon ng injuries ang biktima na itinakbo sa Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.

Nang rumesponde ang mga police officers sa insidente, napag-alamang si Su ay walang naipakitang valid driver’s license o lawful identification. Lumitaw din sa verification na ito ay isang ‘undocumented and overstaying foreign national.’

Huli umanong pumasok ng bansa si Su noong May 2019 at nag-‘overstay’ na mula noon.

Ani Manahan, “records also revealed that the Taiwanese has active derogatory records, including a deportation case, a watchlist order for misrepresentation and a previous record after he allegedly attempted to leave the country using a fraudulently obtained Philippine birth certificate to falsely claim Filipino citizenship.”

“BI Intelligence Division operatives coordinated with the Marikina City Police Station and formally took custody of Su later that day. He was subsequently brought to the BI for booking, biometric registration, medical examination and custodial investigation before the filing of appropriate immigration charges,” dagdag pa niya.
