Begornia, Aribado naghari sa PH Nat’l Squash Championships

DINOMINA nina Reymark Begornia at Jemyca Aribado ang kanilang kanya-kanyang division sa katatapos na Philippine National Squash Championships sa National Squash Center sa loob ng Rizal Memorial Sports Complex sa Manila.

Nakamit ni No.1 Begornia ang men’s elite title,bumangon mula sa last two sets upang Mangibabaw laban sa second seed David William Peliño, 11-3, 6-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6,matapos ang 43 minutong aksyon.

“I’m happy and blessed for winning my second national title. It was a tough match,” Wika ni Begornia sa panayam Martes ng umaga.

Tinalo niya si Meljohn Arebado (11-4, 11-8, 11-3)sa second round at Christopher Buraga (11-7, 11-7, 11-5) sa semifinal.

Umusad si Peliño sa final matapos magwagi laban kay Van Aero Dalida (11-4, 11-8, 14-12) sa second round at Jonathan Reyes (11-8, 11-5, 11-2)sa semis.

Buraga nakaligtas kay Reyes,7-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-6, 11-6,para malagay sa third place.

Sa women’s division, No. 1 Aribado tinalo si Aerra JC Mae Relano, 11-0, 11-7, 11-2,sa final.

“I’m happy to win the title and to continuously host the National Championship event yearly. Before, we couldn’t do it because we didn’t have enough women players. So I’m glad to see the new generation coming in and challenging my title,” Wika ni Aribado, na nangailangan lang ng 22 minute para maaresto si Yvonne Alyssa Dalida (11-4, 11-8, 11-8) sa semis.

Aribado pinataob si Lysa Kate Trasmil (11-8, 11-9, 11-5) sa first round.

Samantala, Dinaig ni Relano si Jane Emmanuel Naz (11-3, 11-4, 11-6) bago sinibak ang No.2 Lizette Reyes, 7-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-6,sa Final Four.

Dalida nalagay sa third place matapos ang 11-7, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6 wagi laban kay Reyes.

Samantala,ang national players ay lalahok sa Philippine Satellite 2 (Sept. 24 to 27), Philippine Challenger (Sept. 3 to Oct. 3) at Manila Jumbo Doubles 2025 (Oct. 16 to 19) sa National Squash Center.
