NAGSAMPA nitong Miyerkules si dating Senador Antonio Trillanes IV ng drug smuggling case sa Department of Justice (DoJ) laban kina Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, mister ni Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio na si Atty. Mans, ex-Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon, at ilan pa hinggil sa pagkakasangkot umano ng mga ito sa P6.4 billion shipment ng shabu na nasabat noong 2017.
Kasama rin sa mga inireklamo sina dating Presidential Adviser on Indigenous Peoples’ Concerns Allen Capuyan, Davao City Councilor “Small” Abellera, Charlie Tan, at apat iba pa.
Ang kaso ay nag-ugat sa May 2017 incident nang masabat ang 602.2 kilograms ng shabu na nagkakahalaga ng P6.4 billion na inimporta mula sa China gamit ang express lane ng Bureau of Customs (BoC).
Ang Senate blue ribbon committee ay nagsagawa ng serye ng mga pagdinig kungsaan nalaman na ang kontrabando ay ipinadaan sa “green lane” para makaiwas sa alert system ng Customs at hindi na dumaan sa physical inspection o document verification.
“This morning (Miyerkules), I filed a case against Pulong Duterte and other members of the Davao group smuggling syndicate,” diin ni Trillanes. “This is the result of the Senate investigations conducted in 2017, in which we have identified Pulong, Charlie Tan, and Mans Carpio as the masterminds behind the P6.4 billion shabu shipment that was allowed to slip through Customs, in collaboration with its Commissioner Nic Faeldon and former Presidential Adviser Allen Capuyan, who was known as the ‘Big Brother.”
“The conspiracy to import the subject shipment from China to the Philippines necessitated the crucial interventions of the ‘powerful insiders’ — the corrupt customs leadership, and more importantly, the very powerful protectors who used their influence to consummate this unlawful crime of importation of billions of pesos worth of dangerous drugs into the country,” dagdag ng dating senador.
Sinabi ni Trillanes na ang 10 respondents ay nilabag ang Section 4 na may kaugnayan sa Section 26 (a) ng Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) na inamiyendahan ng Republic Act No. 10640; at Republic Act No. 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act).
