Philippine Open badminton hahataw sa Hulyo 7

MATUTUNGHAYAN ang pinakamahusay na shuttlers sa boung bansa kapag nagumpisa ang Philippine Open na nakatakda simula Hulyo 7 hanggang 12 sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Ang weeklong tournament na inorganisa ng Philippine Badminton Association (PBAD) ay may tumataginting na PHP1 million prize pool.

“This is the biggest event for the Philippine Badminton Association because this annual event attracts the best shuttlers from all across the country,” Wika ni PBAD secretary-general Carla Lizardo-Sulit sa press statement Huwebes.

Players na naghahangad na lumahok sa national team ay inaasahan na kasali sa Philippine Open, na Badminton World Federation (BWF) Tour Super/ 1000 event.

“It’s the biggest source of points in our local ranking system so if you want to earn a shot in the national team, this is it,” Sambit ni Lizardo-Sulit.

Nakaraang taon, binulsa ni Jewel Angelo Albo ang men’s singles title at Mika de Guzman ang nakoronahan na women’s singles champion.

Lea Inlayo at Nicole Albo nakamit ang women’s doubles title habang si Christian Bernardo inangkin ang men’s doubles title kasama si Ariel Magnaye at ang mixed doubles title kasama si Alyssa Leonardo.

Layunin ng PBAD na makatuklas na pinakamahusay na Filipino shuttler para ipadala sa Olympics.

“At the end of the day, our goal is to have a badminton Olympian by Los Angeles 2028,” Tugon ni Lizardo-Sulit.
