DOJ: Bato maaaring isuko, i-extradite sa ICC

Nanindigan ang Department of Justice (DOJ) nitong Miyerkoles na may dalawang hakbang na maaaring gawin ang gobyerno kaugnay ng warrant of arrest ng International Criminal Court (ICC) laban kay Senador Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

Binanggit ni DOJ Spokesperson Polo Martinez ang Republic Act 9851 o ang Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and Other Crimes Against Humanity.

“Same position. Under RA 9851, we may surrender a suspected or arrested person in the Philippines to the appropriate international court or tribunal. The other mode is extradition,” ani Martinez sa mga reporter.

Hihintayin naman aniya ng gobyerno ang magiging tugon ng Korte Suprema sa mga nakabinbing petisyon kaugnay ng ICC.

Si Dela Rosa, na tinukoy bilang co-perpetrator sa kasong crimes against humanity kaugnay ng war on drugs campaign, ay kasalukuyang nasa protective custody ng Senado.
