NAKASABAT ng shabu na nagkakahalaga ng higit P8 million at nakalagay sa abandonadong inbound shipment nang magsagawa ng inspeksyon s isang warehouse ang mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA).
Sa kanyang ulat, sinabi ni BOC-NAIA District Collector Atty. Yasmin Mapa na ang mga kumpiskadong shipment, na dumating noong March 2026, ay nagmula sa Uganda at naka-consigned sa isang residente ng Cavite. Nakalagay ang droga sa dalawang packages na idineklara bilang “Auto Gear Bearings (Parts for Machines)” at nang isailalim sa physical examination, nadiskubre ng Customs authorities ang 1,234 gramo ng shabu na itinago sa parcelsat may halagang P8,391,200.
Pinuri ni Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno ang operating units ng BOC-NAIA, kasabay ng pagbigay-diin sa paninindigan ng bureau laban sa drug smuggling at patuloy na pangangalaga sa border ng bansa alinsunod sa atas ni President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. na, “intensified anti-smuggling operations, reinforce port security and sustain the campaign against illegal drugs and other illicit goods.”
Ayon kay Mapa, “the seized contraband was immediately turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for laboratory examination, case build-up and appropriate legal proceedings in accordance with existing customs laws, rules and regulations.”
Dagdag pa niya: “The operation underscores the BOC-NAIA’s intensified border protection efforts and sustained commitment to preventing the entry of illegal drugs through the country’s airports and logistics facilities.” (JERRY S. TAN)
