BABALIK sa lansangan ang Century Tuna IRONMAN Philippines Linggo sa Subic Bay matapos ang dalawang taon na pahinga dulot ng pandemic.
Tampok sa karera ang 3.8 kilometers swim,180km bike at 42km run, na unang IRONMAN race sa loob ng dalawang taon sa bansa, pati na rin sa Asia.
“This is two years of pent up enthusiasm. I know so many athletes are eager to get into racing and we’re excited to present this race once again,” Wika ni IRONMAN Philippines ambassador Wilfred Uytengsu sa Friday’s online press briefing.
May kabuoang 912 participants mula sa 23 bansa ang sasabak sa karera, tampok rin ang IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay triathlon.
Tinitiyak ng organizers na tatalima sila sa mahigpit na health protocols para matiyak ang seguridad ng atleta.
“We had to make these protocols resilient so that we can race at any alert level possible,” Sambit ni Princess Galura, general manager of the IRONMAN Group Philippines.
“Since we’re the first in Asia, we want to set an example. And ang importante, we are able to race. We want to start the community again to get back to its feet, to get back into racing. It’s been a long wait.”
Ang karera ay may alok na 45 berths para sa IRONMN World Championship sa Kona, Hawaii at 45 slots para sa IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship sa St.George, Utah.
Ang swim leg ay magsisimula sa Subic Bay Boardwalk, at ang bike run ay dadaan sa SCTEX via Tipo gate, at ang run leg mula SBECC patungong Maritan Highway at magtatapos sa El Kabayo road.
