Pagpapauwi sa mga Pinoy sa Ukraine personal na aasikasuhin ni Sec. Locsin

SINABI nitong Biyernes ni Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. na magtutungo siya sa Ukrainian border upang alamin ang kaligtasan ng mga Pinoy mula sa ginawang pag-atake ng militar ng Russia kung saan dosena ang nasawi at daan-daan ang sugatan.

Sa tweet ni Locsin sinabi nito na pupunta siya kay Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for European Affairs Jaime Victor Ledda at sa protocol officer nito upang personal nitong asikasuhin ang pagpapauwi at makita ang kaligtasan ng mga Pilipino sa Ukrainian border.

Nabatid na nitong Huwebes ay inatake ng militar ng Russia ang Ukraine, kung saan base sa ulat dose-dosena ang mga nasawi at daan-daan ang sugatan.

Ayon sa United Nation refugee agency, tinatayang nasa 100,000 Ukrainians ang tumakas mula sa kanilang mga bahay at libo-libo ang tumawid sa mga kapitbahay nitong bansa kabilang dito ang Romania, Moldova, Poland at Hungary.

Sa naunang pahayag ng DFA, nasa 181 ang bilang ng mga Pinoy sa Ukraine, na ang karamihan dito ay nasa Kyiv, kung kaya’t nagsasagawa na sila ng repatriation.

“Chief and singular concern is to take out of harm’s way our fellow Filipinos in Ukraine and bring them to the nearest places of safety by the fastest possible way,” ani Locsin.

“Our Posts in Warsaw, Budapest, and Moscow, as well as the rest of our European Posts, are on standby for any eventuality,” sabi pa ng DFA.

Ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas ay nanawagan sa international community na muli at higit na pagtibayin ang commitment nito para sa peaceful settlement sa pagitan ng sigalot ng Russia at Ukraine.

“We recall the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the Manila Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of International Disputes which provides the legal framework for recourse to diplomacy, dialogue, and rule of law. There is no compelling reason for any of the protagonists to resort to hostile actions, turning to the Manila Declaration is the pragmatic and decent way to go,” sabi pa ng DFA. (Lordeth B. Bonilla)
