CYNTHIA CARRION, GAP AT WORLD JR GYMNASTS

LAHAT ng atensiyon ay nakatuon na sa Pilipinas kung saan ay gaganapin ang prestihiyosong 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships sa Marriot Hotel Grand Ballroom na nasa Newport World Resorts sa Pasay City.

Walang ibang marapat bigyang -pugay kundi ang determinasyon ni Gymnastics Association of the Philippines ( GAP) president Cynthia Carrion na maging punong. abala ng 74 bansang kalahok na nagsidatingan na lahat kahapon.

“We would like to welcome all our athletes, coaches and officials who are taking part in the world juniors and we are grateful for their enthusiastic response to our international competition,” wika ni Carrion.

Naging realidad ang dati ay pangarap lang na hosting ng entabladong pandaigdig sa suporta ng Office of the President, Philippine Sports Commission at ng the Department of Tourism.

Sinabi pa ni Carrion na ang mga lalahok sa elite meet na sanctioned ng International Gymnastics Federation, ay nasapawan na ang mga nakaraang edisyon nito kung saan noong second World Junior Championships sa Antalya, Turkey ay 64 bansa ang lumahok at may kabuuang 283 athletes habang total na 750 na ang atleta sa torneong ayudante rin ng Smart/PLDT at Cignal TV bilang official broadcaster .

“This shows the growing interest in this beautiful and dynamic Olympic sport worldwide, so FIG member countries are fielding their promising young gymnasts knowing that this a major stepping stone to their development,”dagdag pa ni Carrion sa kumpetisyong backed up din ng Milo, Pocari Sweat at ni Sen. Pia Cayetano.

Ito na ang pagkakataon para sa local young gymnasts na ma- expose sa top caliber play, at nagpapasalamat siya sa world gymnastics body na pinahintulutan ang Pilipinas na isabak ang boys and girls squads nito sa torneo na binabanderahan ni Karl Eldrew Yulo, mula sa kanyang intensive training sa Japan, at ni Elizabeth Antone.

“While Paris Olympians Carlos Yulo, Aleah Finnegan and Emma Malabuyo have already proven themselves on the world stage, we need to sustain their gains so this was one of our prime motivations to have the world juniors here,” ani pa ng GAP head.

“We pray that the exposure of our young gymnasts in this prestigious competition will inspire them to excel and perform better when they move up the senior ranks”.

Ideyal din sa lahat ng bisita ang venue dahil sa ilang hakbang lang ito sa lahat ng official hotels -the Manila Marriott Sheraton Manila, Hilton Manila, Belmont Manila, Hotel Okura, Savoy Hotel at Holiday Inn Express – na isang pukol lang din ang layo sa Ninoy Aquino Intenational Airport Terminal 3.
