ITINALAGA si dating Philippine Airlines (PAL) President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Capt. Stanley Ng bilang Undersecretary sa Department of Tourism (DOT). Nanumpa ito kay DOT Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay nitong June 9 at siyang hahawak ng Halal Tourism and Muslim Concerns office.
Naitalaga din bilang undersecretaries sina Maria Victoria Jasmin na hahawak ng Tourism Regulation, Coordination, and Resource Generation office at Ma. Dionesa Rivera-Guillermo na hahawak ng Administration and Finance.
“With their extensive experience from both the public and private sectors, they bring valuable expertise and leadership that will help strengthen the Department’s programs, partnerships, and efforts to advance a more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable Philippine tourism industry. We look forward to working with them in driving initiatives that will further support tourism stakeholders, local communities, and travelers”, ayon sa DOT statement.
Dagdag pa ng DOT: “Jasmin previously served as DOT undersecretary under former Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. and led efforts to improve the classification for hotels and other accommodation establishment an internationally-recognized one while Rivera-Guillermo, meanwhile, served as Deputy Director General for Government Procurement Policy Board-Technical Support Office.”
Si Ng ay nagsimula bilang ground staff noong 2003 bago nag-training sa PAL aviation school at maging Airbus A320 commander. Nag-umpisa siyang mag-piloto noong 2008 bilang second officer at umangat hanggang ma-promote noong 2019 bilang senior Vice President na in charge sa mga piloto at cabin crew ng PAL, pati na din sa operational airport and engineering teams.
Noong January 2022, itinalaga siya sa top executive position ng PAL at nagsilbi doon hanggang May 2025 at mula doon ay inilagay siya sa strategic role bilang Vice President ng PAL Holdings at member ng Board of Directors. Bilang kauna-unahang aktibong ‘seasoned pilot’ na naging Pangulo ng PAL, si Capt. Ng ay nagawang itawid ang PAL sa post-pandemic recovery. (JERRY S. TAN)
