Hirit ni Jinggoy makulong sa Crame tinabla ng PNP

HINDI na angkop ang custodial facility ng Philippine National Police (PNP) sa Camp Crame para sa high-profile detainees, ayon kay PNP chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr.
Lumabas ang pahayag nang hilingin ni Senador Jinggoy Estrada na mailipat siya mula sa Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory sa Payatas patungo sa PNP Custodial Center habang nililitis sa kasong plunder at graft kaugnay ng anomalya sa flood control projects.
Ayon kay Nartatez, inatasan na niya ang PNP Legal Service na pormal ipaliwanag sa Sandiganbayan kung bakit hindi na maaaring gamitin ang pasilidad bilang detention facility para sa mga kilalang personalidad.
“We appreciate the trust and confidence of Senator Estrada to the PNP but our facilities here at Camp Crame are no longer ideal to serve as detention facilities for high-profile personalities like him,” ani Nartatez.
“I already directed our Legal Service to prepare a response and explanation to the Sandiganbayan on this matter,” dagdag niya.
Nauna nang inihayag ni Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla ang planong pagsasaayos ng PNP Custodial Center at pag-convert ng lugar upang magamit bilang mga bagong opisina ng ahensya.
Ayon sa PNP, matagal nang ginagamit ang custodial center para sa mga high-profile detainee ngunit nangangai-langan ito ng dagdag na tauhan at mas malaking resources para sa kanilang seguridad.
Binanggit din ng PNP ang lumalaking pangangaila-ngan nito sa espasyo para sa mga opisina at iba pang pasilidad sa loob ng Camp Crame.
“We in the PNP respect the wisdom of the court in relation to this matter and we hope that our stand in relation to this matter will be understood and respected,” paha-yag ni Nartatez.
Kasalukuyang nakadetine si Estrada sa Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory matapos siyang arestuhin kaugnay ng P573-milyong plunder at graft case na may kaugna-yan sa anomalya sa flood control projects.(Boy Celario)
