May pekeng balita at may pekeng oposisyon. Walang maniniwalang oposisyon sila.

MGA PILING SALITA: “No point in arguing with people who are immune to facts and the truth. Just block them.” – Dan Mariano, mamamahayag, netizen

“Who knows September or October could be the magic month when formal investigation of the bloody but failed anti-drug war starts? Rodrigo Duterte et. al. face crimes against humanity charges before the ICC. Other groups including the NUPL have joined the charges initiated by Sonny Trillanes and Gary Alejano … What started to be an initiative of two Magdalo stalwarts has turned out to be a major offensive of those adversely affected by the EJKs. The ICC has listened to the charges, which have prospered beyond the belief of pro-administration and opposition stalwarts, who belittled the efforts of Trillanes and Alejano.” – PL, netizen

Narito:

DUTERTE, YOU’RE NEXT IN LINE

Akbayan Spokesperson Dr. RJ Naguit on Sudan handing over Omar al-Bashir to the ICC

The decision of the Sudanese government to hand over dictator Omar al-Bashir to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to face charges of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity sends a powerful message against modern authoritarianism that will ripple around the world.

The message is clear: All tyrants face a day of reckoning. They will eventually be arrested, held to account and prosecuted for their crimes against the people.

This is the same fate that awaits Mr. Rodrigo Duterte. After Omar al-Bashir, the world will come after Duterte. Today, it is al-Bashir. Tomorrow, it is Duterte.

And Duterte knows this. It is this fear of eventual accountability that propels him to scramble and continue his inept and violent rule. He and his enablers know that eventually, the full force of the international community and the rule of law will bear down on them, hard.

But the clock is ticking, and time is running out. Duterte is already front and center in the ICC’s sights, and the tide is turning. The Filipino people are finding their voices, pushing back and rejecting Duterte’s attempt to continue his tyrannical rule beyond 2022.

Duterte’s days are drawing to a close. The long arm of the law will eventually catch him. Justice will find its way and in the end, prevail

“Slobodan Milosevic faced trial by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, which the United Nations Security Council formed in the 1990s. The tribunal tried Milosevic who was accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the people of Bosnia Herzogovina and Kosova, two former republics of the old Yugoslav federation. Milosevic uttered exactly the same words as Duterte’s. He refused to face trial. But his successor, promised by developed countries of $1-B official development assistance (ODA) for the war-ravaged Serbia and Serbia’s membership in the European Union, surrendered him without much ado to the Tribunal based in The Hague, Netherlands. The Tribunal is the forerunner of the International Criminal Court. An international criminal system has evolved after the 1945 Nuremberg Trials that tried the Nazi German war criminals. Criminal law has fused with international law to come out with an international criminal law culture, which is most helpful to run after tyrants and murderers of their own people.”
