Apela ng Lipa city Mayor, ibinasura ng Comelec

IBINASURA ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang motion for reconsideration (MR) ni Lipa City Eric Africa hinggil sa poll protest laban sa kanya.

Sa desisyon ng 2nd Division ng Comelec noong Oktubre 14, 2021, ibinasura ang mosyon ni Africa dahil inulit lamang umano nito ang argumento na napagdesisyonan na ng poll body.

Nahaharap si Africa sa electoral protest na isinumite ni dating Lipa City mayoral bet Bernadette Sabili noong 2019 local polls.

Misis ni dating Lipa City mayor si Sabili at dating Undersecretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Meynard Sabili.

Magugunitang pinaburan ng Comelec ang motion to withdraw ni Sabili kaugnay sa 80 percent ng “kuwestiyonableng” poll precinct.

Ayon kay Sabili, ang resulta ng imbestigasyon ng Comelec sa technical examinations sa 20 percent ng sinuring presinto, sapat ng ebidensiya para matiyak na nanalo siya at napatunayang may pandaraya sa 2019 elections.

Kamakailan, inihayag ng Comelec ang umano’y anomalya at iregularidad sa mahigit 15,000 voters para sa Lipa City mayoral race noong 2019.

Sa imbestigasyon ng Comelec, 50 percent ng mga boto na isinailalim sa technical examination, lumabas na maanomalya dahil sa mga hindi nagtugmang lagda ng mga bumoto.

“50 percent of the votes subjected to the technical examination were anomalous as the signatures and thumbmarks of voters recorded during the actual election were not identical to those in the Comelec registration record,” ayon sa kampo ni Sabili.

Kumpiyansa rin si Sabili na sapat ang Comelec findings para ideklara siya ang nanalo sa 2019 election bilang alkalde ng Lipa City.
