TINIYAK ni Manila Mayor Isko Moreno sa lahat ng mga Manileño na patuloy ang pamahalaang lokal sa pagbibigay ng trabaho para sa mga unemployed dahil sa kasalukuyang pandemya.

Sinabi ni Moreno na ang Public Employment Service Office (PESO) na pinamumunuan ni Fernan Bermejo ay nagpapatupad ng hybrid local recruitment na parehong umiistima ng aplikante sa online at face-to-face systems.

“To ensure that we could reach all the applicants in every way possible, PESO Manila opened the “Hybrid Local Recruitment Activity” through online and face to face where even walk-ins are being catered to,” paliwanag ni Moreno.

Ang PESO ayon kay Moreno ay : ” aims to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of employment facilitation services and provide timely information on labor market and DOLE Programs.”

Iniulat ni Bermejo sa alkalde na ang COVID-19 pandemic ay labis na nakaapekto sa mga programa pati na sa daily operations nito sa pangkalahatan.

“Before the pandemic happened, the PESO of the City of Manila, on a daily basis, caters to hundreds of applicants and clients,” sabi ni Bermejo.

Upang matiyak ang kalusugan at kaligtasan ng mga applicants at employers, ang PESO ay nag- transitioned na gawin ang interviews online para sa lahat ng local recruiting activities simula noong October 1, 2020.

“This initiative aims to provide a safer environment for its clients – employers and job seekers, alike – contactless/online interviews for job seekers. PESO-City of Manila started conducting its profiling interviews of applicants through various online platforms, such as Zoom and FB Messenger. Employer interviews are also being conducted using the same platforms,” dagdag pa ni Bermejo.

Sinabi pa nito na sa loob ng dalawang taon, ay ginamit ng PESO ang nasabing platforms upang ipagpatuloy ang core value ng tanggapan.

“We are facing a hard time to place the hired-on-the-spot applicants using zoom interview because of internet connections, mobile gadgets and also the willingness of the applicants, since a huge number of them still adjusting the usage of technology,” ayon pa kay Bermejo.

Ang PESO ay isang non-fee charging multi-dimensional employment service facility o entity na itinatag sa lahat ng Local Government Unit (LGUs) sa pakikipagtulungan ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Ito ay in-adopt ng pamahalaaang lungsod ng Maynila sa pamamagitan ng City Ordinance No. 8166 na kilala.din sa tawag na “CREATION OF PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT SERVICE OFFICE IN THE CITY OF MANILA.” (ANDI GARCIA)
