Ava Fajardo pamumunuan ang Gilas Women sa Fiba U16 Asian tilt

PAMUMUNUAN ni Ava Fajardo ang Gilas Pilipinas Women squad sa 2022 Fiba Under-16 Women’s Asia Cup sa Jordan simula sa Biyernes.

Ang 5-foot-5 guard mula sa Gill St.Bernard ang bagong mukha sa national youth women’s team na maglalaro sa Division B.

Miyembro rin ng pangkat sina BJ Villarin, Camille Nolasco, Emaleena Elson, Gabby Ramos, Hannah Lopez, Kailah Jade Oani, Kristan Yumul, Naomi Panganiban, Ryan Kelly Nair, Samantha Medina, at Sierra Jade Padricio.

“I am excited now that we are building our youth program for Gilas. As we prepare for our upcoming tournament, I am looking forward to see how these young ladies will display top level high school basketball. The talents for this roster spread far and wide as we have local players and Fil-Ams who suited up for this tournament.” Wika ni Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) program director Pat Aquino.

Ang hahawak sa Philippine team sa continental tilt ay sina Pepperdine assistant coach Brian Rosario at longtime national women’s team deputy Julie Amos.

Ang Pilipinas ay maglalaro sa Group A kontra Indonesia, Syria,at Samoa, na ang top team ay mabiyayaan ng automatic semifinal berth, Habang ang second at third-ranked teams ay maglalaban sa playoffs.

Samantala, ang Group B, tampok ang tough cast na Iran,Jordan,Lebanon at Kazakhstan.
