VP SARA, DA, DICT, DFA WALA NG CONFI FUNDS

NAGDESISYON ang binuong small committee ng House of Representatives na tanggalin na at gawing zero budget ang confidential at intelligence funds ng limang civilian agencies ng gobyerno sa ilalim ng panukalang 2024 national budget.

Ang mga ahensiya na tinanggalan ng CIF ay ang Office of the Vice President, Departments of Education (DepEd), Information and Communications (DICT), Deparetment of Agriculture (DA) at Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Base sa pahayag ni Marikina Representative Stella Quimbo at Ako Bicol Partylist Representartive Elizaldy Co, P1.23 billion na confidential funds ang ililipat sa mga ahensya na nangunguna sa pagbabantay sa West Philippine Sea at pagtataguyod ng kapayapaan at seguridad ng buong bansa.

Kabilang dito ang National Intelligence Coordinating Agency na bibigyan ng P300-million; P100-million naman para sa National Security Council; P200-million para sa intelligence activities and ammunition ng Philippine Coast Guard at P381.8-million sa Department of Transportation na idadagdag para sa airport development o expansion ng Pag-asa Island Airport.

Samantala, sa halip na confidential funds ay makakatanggap naman ng Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) ang mga sumusunod na ahensya:
• P30-million para sa Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources;
• P25-million para DICT;
• P30-million para sa DFA;
• P50-million sa Office of the Ombudsman; at
• P150-million para sa DepEd’s Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE).
