Magandang balita para sa senior citizens.
Inihain ni Manila Congressman Joel Chua (3rd district) ang House Bill 1404 na layuning isama ang mga cellphone sa listahan ng mga produktong pwedeng bilhin gamit ang senior citizens’ discount.
Aniya, marami sa ating mga senior citizen ang wala pa ring cellphone at ang pinagkukunan lamang ng pera ay ang kanilang pension, tulong mula sa lokal na pamahalaan at paminsan-minsang abot mula sa kamag-anak.
“By making cellphone acquisition easier for seniors, we enable them to use mobile apps and the internet, allowing them to access government aid and services, as well as conduct online transactions. When this bill becomes law, I foresee mobile phone companies developing cellphone models and apps that are senior-friendly in terms of simplicity, affordability, and ease of use, with clear displays, readable fonts, intuitive icons, and straightforward instructions,” ani Congressman Chua.
Dagdag pa nito: “Boosting mobile phone ownership will empower our seniors. They will be able to receive electronic cash from their relatives, friends, and government aid programs. HB 1404 also has provisions that expand the senior pension to all seniors, not just the indigent, and include all seniors in PhilHealth coverage, not just the indigent.” (JERRY S. TAN)
