P42.5-M HALAGA NG SHABU, NAHARANG NG BOC-NAIA

Timbog sa Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa airport security at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), ang isang bagong dating na pasahero mula Addis Ababa na may dalang iligal na droga sa NAIA Terminal 3 nitong October 28, 2025.

Na-detect umano ng BOC x-ray operatives sa routine screening sa Arrival Area, ang mga ‘suspicious images’ sa hand-carried bag ng pasahero at sa isinagawang inspeksyon at field testing gamit ang isang Raman Spectrometer, nag-positibo sa shabu ang laman ng bag. Ito ay may timbang na 6,250 grams at nagkakahalaga ng P42.5 million.

Pinuri ni Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno ang BOC-NAIA team sa ilalim ni District Collector Atty. Yasmin Mapa na nito lamang October 28 naibalik sa puwesto at binigyang-diin ang ‘commitment’ ng bureau sa anti-smuggling at anti-drug campaign ng pamahalaang Ferdinand Marcos ,Jr..

“This operation underscores the Bureau’s firm commitment to securing our borders and protecting the nation from illegal drugs. Following the President’s directive, we will further strengthen our enforcement efforts in coordination with our partner agencies,” ani Commissioner Nepomuceno.

Ang arestadong pasahero at kumpiskadong droga ay nai-turn over na sa PDEA para sa mas malalimang imbestigasyon at pagsasampa ng kaukulang kaso.

Tiniyak ni Mapa na ang BOC-NAIA ay patuloy sa pagpapalakas ng border protection efforts alinsunod sa panawagan ni Pangulong Marcos, Jr. ng “transparency, integrity and decisive action against smuggling and illicit trade.” (JERRY S. TAN)
