Sa mga banta ng pag-atake…SENADO BANTAY SARADO

IBINUNYAG ni acting Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian ang impormasyon mula sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) kaugnay sa umano’y security threat sa Senado.

Ayon kay Gatchalian, ipinaalam ni NBI Director Melvin Matibag ang naturang impormasyon sa mga sektor sa consultative meeting ng Blue Ribbon Committee noong Lunes.

“During the Blue Ribbon consultative meeting yesterday, NBI Director Melvin Matibag informed the sectors present that there is a potential threat to the Senate building and the Senate premises,” wika ni Gatchalian sa kanyang mensahe sa mga mamamahayag.

Dahil dito, nakipagpulong kahapon si Gatchalian sa Senate Executive Committee, kabilang ang Sergeant-at-Arms upang ipatupad ang mga kinakailangang hakbang upang mapalakas ang seguridad sa Senado.

“The security and safety of all senators and Senate employees is paramount. We will make sure that our work environment is safe and secure,” ani Gatchalian.

Sinabi naman ni Sen. Vicente Sotto III, na nakatanggap din siya ng impormasyon.

“Yes, I overheard the report. Security measures are being planned,” saad ni Sotto.

Nang tanungin kung isususpinde ang nakatakdang legislative inquiry, tugon niya: “Depende. Let’s wait for the recommendations of those involved in security.”

“The threat is a clear and present danger therefore serious considerations must be taken… Very serious according to the intel,” diin ni Sotto.

Samantala, itinaas ng Senado sa heightened security status ang buong compound nito kasunod ng mga natanggap na ulat ng banta sa seguridad.

Kinumpirma naman ni Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Alfred Corpuz ang pagpapatupad ng mas mahigpit na mga hakbang upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng Mataas na Kapulungan ng Kongreso. (Mylene Alfonso)
