When I was a contributing journalist of National Midweek Magazine, I read Marra PL. Lanot’s poems. I knew she was active in feminist movement.

I became a fan of hers. I nominated her in the Catholic Mass Media Award in 1989 for her weekly National Midweek column titled “Siyanga Pala” and she won.

At first I did not know she was my relative on my maternal side – the Vitug of Lubao, Pampanga until she told me.

When she found out that I was the one who nominated her, she sent me a thank-you card.

I remember some National Midweek Magazine staffers and contributors, including me, went to Marra PL. Lanot and Pete Lacaba’s home in Quezon City, not far from ABS-CBN for a get-together. Their only son and my nephew, Kris Lanot Lacaba, was still a kid.

This August 2026, I was sad to be informed by her passing on in our Midweek Reunion group chat in Facebook.

We will forever remember her in our hearts.

To Lanot and Lacaba family, my sincerest condolences.
