House adopts work-from-home arrangement starting noon Thursday

The House of Representatives will implement a work-from-home arrangement starting noon Thursday, Sept. 10, in compliance with a directive issued by the Office of the President.

House Secretary General Cheloy E. Velicaria-Garafil announced the WFH arrangement in an advisory issued by authority of Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, as the chamber moved to ensure the safety of its workforce while maintaining essential operations.

“Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 135 issued by the Office of the President on 10 September 2026, the House of Representatives shall implement a Work-from-Home (WFH) arrangement, effective 12:00PM today, 10 September 2026, for all officials and employees, except those whose physical presence is necessary for essential and critical operations, as determined by their respective Heads of Department,” Velicaria-Garafil said.

Malacañang issued Memorandum Circular No. 135 upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council amid continued heavy rainfall brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, and the cumulative effects of prolonged rains.

The circular directed government offices in Metro Manila and 13 provinces to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements Thursday, while agencies providing basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services were directed to continue operations.

The House also reminded its personnel to exercise caution and put their safety first.

“All personnel are advised to exercise utmost caution and prioritize their safety and well-being,” Velicaria-Garafil said. (RM)
