August 21 is Ninoy Aquino Day. Every year we go to the Aquino mausoleum at Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque City to attend a mass to commemorate the death anniversary of former senator and hero Benigno S. Aquino Jr. who was brutally killed by a soldier at Manila International Airport’s tarmac in 1983 upon his return to the Philippines from the United States where Ninoy and his family lived in exile.

This year, after many years, I saw Kris Aquino’s son Bimby who is now a young man gaining known as a co-host in noontime show Eat Bulaga on Manny Pangilinan’s TV5.

Bimby has the face of the young Ninoy Aquino. He has the wit and a gift of gab. I often watch him on TV and I imagine that he would be interviewing me in Eat Bulaga’s Age Is Right segment. I hope I would be guesting there before I return to the USA in the near future as credentialed member of the Department of State’s Foreign Press Centers in Washington D.C. and New York City.

Later, after the mass, I asked Bimby for a selfie with him but I found it difficult to take a selfie for he is tall. So, he got my camera and he was the one who took a selfie with me.

Bimby will have a bright future ahead of him and I am looking forward to see him more often.
