HIGIT 35 TONS NG ABANDONADO AT FORFEITED GOODS, KINONDENA NG BOC-NAIA

May kabuuang 340 Air Waybills (AWBs) na may higit 35.6 tonelada ng ‘abandoned and forfeited goods’ na nagkakahalaga ng ?1.45 million ang kinondena at iniatas na idispatsa ng Bureau of Customs– Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA).
Ayon kay BOC-NAIA District Collector Atty. Maria Yasmin Obillos-Mapa, ang cargoes na mula sa iba’t-ibang bansa at kinabibilangan ng vape products, dysfunctional equipment, foodstuffs, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics at iba pang general merchandise ay isinailalim sa ‘condemnation’ dahil sa paglabag sa Republic Act No. 11900 at Republic Act No. 10863, na ilan sa applicable customs laws and regulations.
Binigyang-diin ni Mapa na “the condemnation reflects the Port of NAIA’s commitment to ensuring that abandoned and forfeited goods are disposed of in accordance with established customs procedures and applicable laws.”
Inihayag naman ni BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno na mahalaga ang pagpapalakas ng ‘transparency and accountability in customs operations, particularly in the disposal of goods that have been abandoned or forfeited in favor of the government.’
