12 finalists sa Puregold Teatro Panalo Festival, inihayag na!

INIHAYAG na ang kauna-unahang Puregold Teatro Panalo finalist. Mula sa kabuuang 373 na lumahok sa buong bansa, 12 natatanging akda ang pinalad na mapabilang sa makasaysayang unang batch ng finalists.

Binubuo ang 12 finalists – eight straight plays at four musicals – ng inaugural Puregold Teatro Panalo ng mga sumusunod:

4. The Boy Foretold by the Stars (One Act Play) by Dholly Dulu
5. Nothing But Dreams by Ricardo C. Novenario
6. Youngstunna by Jeromoe Andrei M. Canlas
7. Walang Maliit Na Bagay by Joshua Lim So
8. @Home by Edralin Cabrera, Kathlyn Castillo, Michael Ian Lamongo, Marjorie Lorico, Maria Teresa Jamias and J. Victor Villareal
9. Ang Maayong Balita Sumala Kang Bibe Bautista by Jude Thaddeus Gitamondoc
10. Baka Mali ang Tamaraw by Emmanuel Benbinuto Antonio
11. Manang- Mana Nga by Steven Hotchkiss
12. The Fourth Wall Has Fallen by Heber Justin P O’Hara.

Ang mga napiling playwrights ay nakatanggap ng P100,000 talent fees, na hudyat ng panimula ng kanilang journey bilang pioneers ng first-ever Puregold Teatro Panalo.

Si Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, Puregold Teatro Panalo Festival Chair, ay nagpahayag ng kanyang excitement sa historic na lineup at ng extraordinary response mula sa Filipino theater artists sa buong bansa. “It was encouraging to see how many Filipino storytellers are eager to share their work, and it made choosing only 12 plays especially difficult. They remind us how much Filipino theater has to offer; how live experiences offer authentic connections, and how important it is to create more opportunities for these stories to find their audience.

“With Puregold Teatro Panalo, we hope to give these works the stage they deserve and, in our own way, help Philippine theater continue to grow.”

Ang lahat ng 12 finalists ay makakatanggap ng comprehensive development and production na suporta mula sa festival organizer Wishbone Collective Inc., na gagawin ang kanilang mga nagwaging konsepto tungo sa mga ganap na produksiyon sa entablado. Makikita ng mga manonood ang mga bagong akdang ito kapag ang Puregold Teatro Panalo ay nagsimula mula February 20 to March 14, 2027.

Nasa likod ng selection sina Festival Director Vincent A. De Jesus, Jenny Jamora, Liza Magtoto, Marlon Rivera, at Atty. Nicolas Pichay. Kasama ng team bilang Screening Committee members sina Dr. Layeta Bucoy at Allan Lopez, na nag-screen sa festival submissions at shortlisted the entries. Nagbigay naman ng invaluable expertise at creative guidance sa festival ang Artistic Adviser nito, ang National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts na si Ricky Lee.

Twelve groundbreaking works. Isang makasaysayang pambungad na pestibal. Isang mapangahas at bagong yugto para sa teatrong Filipino.

Handa nang umakyat sa entablado ang hinaharap ng dulaang Filipino. At sa pagbubukas ng tabing sa taong 2027, masasaksihan ng mga manonood ang simula ng isang bagay na tunay na katangi-tangi.
