NAKIKIISA si Senator Erwin Tulfo sa Philippine media industry sa pagdiriwang ng National Press Freedom Day ngayong August 30, kasabay ng pagpuri sa mga miyembro ng media “for staying true to their mission of bringing true and unbiased information to the public while sticking to the fundamental values, principles and core rules that govern press freedom.”

“The mainstream media outlets still remain as the best source of reliable, credible news thus, the need to protect their independence and all sorts of threats to their autonomy,” ani Tulfo.

Dagdag pa niya: “Legitimate media organizations are bound by a set of professional ethics in the discharge of their functions and the news gathered by their reportorial teams undergo several layers of checks and cross-checks to verify and ensure their truthfulness before they are released to the public.”

“I hope that media members will continue to improve their standards and existing ethics to better their craft while continuing to serve the public and to further encourage public trust,” pahayag ni Tulfo.

Samantala, pinapurihan ni Tulfo ang media members “for keeping the public informed against all odds and also called on them to continue maintaining independence in reporting corruption and holding leaders accountable without fear or favor.” (JERRY S. TAN)
