PINAIIMBESTIGAHAN ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III ang nabunyag na pagbabayad ng P100 sa bawat pirma para sa people’s initiative.
Isinusulong ang people’s iniatitive para sa pag-amyenda sa 1987 Constitution.
“We need more investigative work. But if indeed the signatures were paid for then the People’s Initiative Petition is not from the people but is the initiative of the source of the money which could be commercial or some other vested selfish interest,” ang mensahe ni Pimentel sa mga mamamahayag sa Senado.
Punto ng senador, hindi masasabing kagustuhan ng taumbayan ang people’s iniative kung sila ay nasuhulan.
“Anything of value in exchange for a signature can be considered a bribe,” ayon pa ng senador.
Sinabi ni Pimentel, ang imbestigasyon sa sinasabing panunuhol ay maaring gawin ng Kongreso, ng Philippine National Police (PNP), ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), at maging ng non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
