Groseclose kasado na para sa Winter Youth Olympics

NAKAPASOK na ang Filipino short track speed skater Peter Groseclose sa Youth Olympic Village sa Gangneung Wonju National University at agad sumugod sa training sa ilalim ni Olympian coach John-Henry Kruege’s sa Gangneung Ice Arena sa South Korea.

Ang 16-year-old Groseclose ay dumating sa Seoul three days ago at hindi nag-aksaya ng oras para mag training rin sa Mokdong ice rink bago ang Winter Olympic games.

“I’m very honored and grateful to become part of the Winter Youth Olympic Games representing the Philippines,” Wika ni Groseclose, anak ng Amerikanong si Timothy at Filipino Victoria. “I think it will be a great experience, and I’m very excited.”

Siya ang unang sasabak sa 3 Filipino athletes na qualified sa games— sa 1,5000 meters sa Sabado,1,000 meters sa Linggo at 500 meters sa Lunes.

Groseclose ay isa sa 36 men short track speed skaters na ang host South Koreans ang napaboran na muling mangibabaw sa events sa Innsbruck 2012 at Lausanne 2020.

Ang iba pang Filipino athletes — freestyle Skier Laetaz Amihan Rabe at cross-country skier Avery Balbanida — ay nakatakdang dumating ngayong Linggo kasama sina Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino at secretary – general Wharton Chan.

Sinabi ni Groseclose na nakatutuk siya sa 2026 Milano Cortina Italy Winter Olympics.

“That’s a goal of mine — to represent the Philippines in the 2026 Olympics,” Wika ng 11th grader sa Oakton High School sa Virginia, United States.

Sinabi ni Victoria Groseclose na ang kanyang anak ay ginagabayan ni Krueger, na kinatawan ang US sa Pyeongchang 2018 Games.
