Snap elections inilutang ni Sen. Alan Cayetano

INILUTANG ni Senador Alan Peter Cayetano ang posibilidad na snap election para sa Pangulo, Bise Presidente, Senado, at Kongreso, kung saan walang mga incumbent officials ang papayagang tumakbo kasunod ng pagkawala ng tiwala sa gobyerno.

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni Cayetano na bagama’t may mga lehitimong supporters ang mga pulitiko at mga political figures, “now more than ever in our history, politicians are suspects.”

“So here’s a thought: WHAT IF we all just resign and allow a Snap Election. From The President, Vice President, Senate, and Congress. With One Important Addition — No Incumbent From The Above Can Run For 1 Election Cycle,” aniya.

Ginawa ni Cayetano ang pahayag kasunod ng ilang mga imbestigasyon na may kinalaman umano sa katiwalian sa gobyerno, partikular sa maanomalyang flood control projects.

Sa kanyang rekomendasyon, sinabi ni Cayetano na mananatili ang mga governor, mayor, at mga barangay chairperson dahil sila ay “generally trusted,” habang ang national government ay may kanya-kanyang bureaucracy at magpapatuloy ang operasyon.

“If we truly serve them, then starting over shouldn’t scare us. Because real change starts with radical honesty — and the courage to admit when it’s time to step aside,” giit ni Cayetano.
