PADILLA, DINEPENSAHAN NI TOPACIO LABAN SA KRITISISMO NI ADIONG

Mariing binatikos ng Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP), dahil umano sa pagiging ‘extremely unseemly and off-tangent’, ang kritisismo na ginawa ni Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong laban kay Sen. Robin Padilla na dapat umano ay mag-“stick to facts” na lamang ang Senador sa kanyang mga interpellations sa Senate impeachment hearings.

Sa isang statement, sinabi ni PDP National Spokesman Atty. Ferdinand Topacio na hindi umano dapat na maging masyadong ‘presumptuous’ si Adiong at magpanggap na mas marunong ito kesa sa isang Senator-Judge.

“Mr. Adiong has no idea as to what the thought processes of a sworn magistrate in his quest to arrive at an informed decision based on all legal facts as ascertained by him, based on a national perspective. Mr. Adiong should instead lecture his prosecutors — public and private — to stick to the facts and not indulge in over-acting, rhetoric and trial by publicity, all of which are sub judice and evince a weak case and a floundering presentation,” ani Topacio.

Dagdag pa niya: “Since Adiong is so inclined to feign concern about propriety, he should instead lecture some Senators who use offensive, unbecoming and unparliamentary language in browbeating and badgering witnesses subpoenaed by his own team.”

Ayon kay Topacio, dapat din umanong bigyan ni Adiongng lecture si prosecutor Renee Co “who, simultaneously with his self-righteous tirade regarding sticking to facts, fired off a series of “what if” statements relating to the same issue of confidential funds.”

Binigyang-diin pa ni Topacio na si Adiong ay dapat na mag-lecture sa kanyang sarili, dahil ang asta umano nito bilang mambabatas sa mga QuadComm hearings ‘leaves much to be desired.’

“Indulging in insults, slurs and affronts based on pure fantasy, such as “puro pa-cute ka” and others of similar nature which have no place in legislative proceedings. Being stung by the sharp rebuke of the prosecution by the Impeachment court’s Presiding Officer is not an excuse to lash out indiscriminately to cover up one’s shortcomings. To cure himself of making further sanctimonious rants, Adiong should familiarize himself with the old saying, “tumatawa ang unggoy sa haba ng buntot ng baka, ngunit hindi niya nakikita ang haba ng sariling buntot niya,” ani Topacio.
